How to Report Phishing Emails in Google

IMPORTANT NOTE

If you think you have fallen prey to a phishing attempt and accidentally released or provided confidential, sensitive or personally identifying insitutional data or information–for example, you clicked on a link in a suspicious email, or called a number in the suspicious email and provided information–please immediately contact Contact Public Safety at 617-879-7800 or x7800, and contact the Technology department using the this form on the service hub customer portal.

Users should review this Google article on how to avoid and report phishing emails which provides information on how to spot phishing emails. The instructions below are reproduced from that article for your quick reference.

If you receive an email that you suspect may be a phishing attempt or cybersecurity threat, do not interact with, reply to or forward the message to anyone. Do not click on any links contained in the email, or take any action that it suggests (e.g., calling a phone number), as it may pose a cybersecurity risk for the institution. Reporting phishing emails directly in the Google Gmail web interface is the most effective and timely method to preventing phishing emails. Marking the message in this manner notifies Google and Technology staff of the suspicious message.
