This document describes how keep your devices and applications up-to-date. The latest updates from vendors often include important security updates which can protect the device and the data stored, for personal or work use.

These instructions are mostly relevant for users configuring personal devices, or updating software installed on a institutionally provisioned device which the Technology department doesn't support. 

Keep your devices up-to-date

While instructions may vary from device to device, most device manufacturer's provide users with options to keep devices update. Some the more popular devices and operating systems' instructions for staying up-to-date are provided below: 

• macOS laptop or desktop
• iOS mobile device (iPhone, iPad)
• Windows laptop or desktop
• Android mobile device (mobile phone, tablet)

For devices not listed above, which might include gaming stations or consoles, smart TVs, streaming devices (e.g, Roku, Amazon Fire, Google Chromecast), IoT devices (including smart appliances), consult user documentation delivered with the device for details about how to keep the device up-to-date, or consult their website for user documentation or for additional support.
