Employment Opportunities
F-1 international students are eligible to work and maintain status under the following circumstances:
- Your F-1 student status permits you to work on campus at the institution that issued your I-20 while you are enrolled in a full course of study.
- Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is the authorized, legal permission for F-1 international students to engage in an off-campus work experience when the experience is a required part of MassArt academic curriculum. It must be authorized prior to beginning any work so please read all information carefully.
- Optional Practical Training (OPT) is temporary employment directly related to a student’s major field of study, and it may be used before or after completion of an academic program.
