Qualified Transportation Benefit Program
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts offers employees the ability to participate in the Qualified Transportation Benefits Program (QTBP). The Plan allows you to pay for transportation and parking expenses incurred commuting to and from work using pre-tax dollars.
Please visit the QTBP website to find out more about the program or to start participating. The department code for MassArt is MCA9999.
The MBTA T-Pass Subsidy Program
MassArt offers the MBTA T-Pass Subsidy program which encourages the use of public transportation and helps off-set the cost of commuting for faculty and staff.
Our continued goals for creating the Program are to:
- Help offset our employees’ cost of commuting
- Help reduce area traffic and parking congestion
- Further the College’s commitment to sustainability by providing support for employees' choice of greener commuting options.
MassArt will provide a stipend of $55.00 per month to each eligible employee who opts out of the MassArt parking program. In order to participate:
- You must be a current MassArt employee
- Faculty must be teaching a minimum of two courses on campus per semester
- Staff need to work on-site for at least three (3) days per week
- You must request the stipend each semester (Spring, Summer, Fall)
- You must apply and be approved - please complete the application form.*
*Once approved, the subsidy will be reflected monthly in your paycheck for the semester. Please be advised, some transportation benefits that exceed the allowable Mass DOR limits may be a taxable event.
The Longwood Collective Shuttles and CommuteWorks
As a member of the Longwood Collective (formerly MASCO), MassArt employees may use the free shuttle service, available from the MBTA stations at both Ruggles (Orange line) and JFK/UMass (Red line) stops. Longwood Collaborative shuttle route schedules, live map and additional details can be found on their website.
As a commuter on any shuttle please be aware that during the school year traffic in the area becomes very congested and travel times get longer, so you will want to plan accordingly.
Longwood Collective is pleased to offer the employees and students of our member institutions commuting peace of mind via our CommuteWorks program. Whether it's registering for our Emergency Ride Home Program, learning about the best biking and walking routes or comparing our corporate shuttle programs with the MBTA and Commuter Rail, we are here to help you best navigate to and through the Longwood neighborhood.
