The amount of credits a student is enrolled in does have an impact on their financial aid eligibility.
All Federal Aid (Federal Direct Stafford Loans, Federal Pell Grant, and Federal College Work Study) is based on enrollment in credits that fulfill degree requirements. Only credits that count towards a student’s degree requirements are counted when determining a student’s eligibility for Federal Aid.
Non-federal aid is based on a student's total credits enrolled, not just degree-required credits.
Students should contact the Registrar’s Office, registrar@massart.edu, if they have questions/concerns regarding if their credits are counting towards their degree. If students are considering changing their enrollment status at any point and are currently receiving financial aid, they should contact our office to understand the impacts.
